Just a walk

In this series of three portraits of Paul, very little changes. The lighting remains predominantly from behind and there is no elaborate setting to influence what we see. Yet each photograph leaves a slightly different impression.

Sometimes we look. Sometimes we see. There is a difference.

People often ask why so many of my photographs are in black and white. It's a fair question, especially when modern cameras produce such vibrant colour. The answer isn't that I dislike colour. Quite the opposite. Sometimes colour is an essential part of an image.
