Sometimes we look. Sometimes we see.

Now, RobbieCimages is moving beyond the still image.

My YouTube channel is a new and developing part of RobbieCimages, giving me another way to share my photography and the stories behind the images.

Rather than simply displaying individual photographs, I am bringing images together into short visual journeys, using sequencing, music and occasional words to create a mood and encourage the viewer to look a little longer.

The channel will feature photography from my existing projects as well as new work, landscapes, people, history and those easily overlooked details that so often catch my eye.

It is still early days, and I am enjoying discovering how photography can work differently when presented through video.

Sometimes We Look — my first YouTube project

It felt like a natural progression for me to display my work in another format, alongside my books. My photography is evolving as I become more certain about how I see my art, keeping it honest and true to what I see, without relying on AI or excessive processing.

YouTube gives me another way to bring those images together and let them tell their stories.

Sometimes the story is already there. We simply have to see the connection.

LOOK AGAIN

An ordinary moment can become something more when we look a second time.

Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes gave me the opportunity to revisit the idea that eventually led to my first book, Faith in Full Sight, without simply returning to the same photographs.

This time I wanted to look again, to explore familiar subjects through different images and, importantly, to introduce colour where I felt it added something to the photograph. Although black and white remains an important part of my work, I don't believe an image should be monochrome simply because that is my preferred style.

For me, it is about recognising what the photograph needs. Sometimes that is the simplicity and atmosphere of black and white; sometimes it is the colour, age and texture within the stone itself.

Form and repetition

Here, colour isn't needed. The repeating arches, light and shadow provide everything I want the photograph to say.

When colour matters

Here, colour becomes part of the photograph. The variations within the stone reveal age, weathering and texture. Converting it to black and white would take something away rather than add to the image.
